The Music We Build Together is a celebration of community, resilience, and the transformative power of shared music-making. Commissioned by World Projects for the Aliso Niguel High School String Orchestra, the work was born from a specific and deeply human story: a young ensemble navigating the upheaval of the pandemic and a transition in leadership, and emerging on the other side more connected than ever.
At its heart, the piece asks what it means to build something together, not just a performance, but a musical community. It honors the trust that develops between musicians over time, the way an ensemble learns to listen, to adapt, and to find a shared voice even through uncertainty and change.
The Music We Build Together received its world premiere on April 6, 2026, at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium, performed by the Aliso Niguel String Orchestra under the direction of Jonathan Chen.
