Adaptations is a multi-movement work for solo piano, written as an exploration of sound worlds—from avant-garde to minimalism to ragtime.
It opens with a modern fugue, whose subject becomes the motif that carries through the entire work. The final movement brings all of the styles together, evoking a sonic journey through shifting textures, styles, and time periods.
