A Severed Chord is an abstract opera on war and its wide-reaching effects. With a powerfully emotional text by actor/writer, Jeff Shankley, this work was created to highlight the effects of war on veterans and those closest to them. On September 23, 2022, a concert premiere will be performed in West Palm Beach, FL to benefit the Grey Team, an organization working to prevent veteran suicides across the United States.

ONE NIGHT ONLY! The Concert Premieres of Two Compelling New Operas Inspired by the Experiences of our Military Veterans & Their Families and Honoring the Work of Grey Team.

These one-act operas will be presented in concert at historic St. Ann Church. Meet & Greet the Artists after the concert. Doors open at 7:10 PM.

 

Bomb Squad Rhapsody is a one-act, one-woman opera by award-winning composer and pianist Jane K and awarding-winning author, playwright, and librettist Germaine Shames.

A Severed Chord is a one-act opera by award-winning composer Amy Scurria and librettist Jeff Shankley. Mr. Shankley is also an award-winning actor and a singer known and renowned for more than thirteen original shows and plays in the West-End of London, including creating the original Munkustrap in Cats, Greaseball in Starlight Express, as well as seasons with The Royal Shakespeare company and New Shakespeare companies. He has recently completed his fifteenth novel.
